Storyteller.net @ Borders: March 18
Posted: 2006-03-06 By SNStaff

Come to Storyteller.net @ Borders- Every Third Saturday, 7:00PM
Borders Store, 10100 W McDowell Road, Avondale AZ

Spoken Word and stories for adults and teens presented by Pros and Students. Come listen. Free. Forget the bunny slippers. Stories aren’t for children.

Come to Storyteller.net@Borders: a new event of storytelling for adults and teens! With storytellers and spoken word artists from around the state of Arizona (and sometimes the rest of the world), you are going to get an hour of some of the best world tales and mature personal stories, stories that are told and not read. Stop by on your way to wherever you are going. No charge.

Next on March 18:
MAKIA MALO is a blind Hawaiian teller who’s survived Hanson’s Disease (leprosy) and lived 30 years in Kalaupapa, the remote settlement made famous by Father Damien for those afflicted with that disease . He tells hilarious and bitter-sweet personal tales in a back-porch "talk story" style.

JEFF GERE runs the Talk Story Festival, Hawaii’s largest and oldest storytelling celebration now in its 17th year. Jeff shares personal stories and true supernatural tales of Hawaii, his particular delight.

<"TITA" KATHY COLLINS is a radio DJ on Maui. She’s wildly popular as ‘Tita’, telling Hawaii’s lore and legend in pidgin English stand-up comedy with content and plenty of attitude! Her CD ‘Tita Out!’ was given Hawaii’s 2005 Hoku Award for Comedy.
